Youtube and the whisper community
Honestly, sometimes I wonder what I did before Youtube (oh yes, Bob Ross videos and foreign language podcasts!)
![]() But, has anyone else come across the whisper community on there? I only found out about this sensation even having a name because someone contacted me through there about it. I couldn't believe it when I stumbled across hundreds of different whispering users. I believe the sensation that people get from listening to whispers is also ASMR. Anyway, for those interested, one of my favourite whisperers on there, 'Soothingwhisper', has recently launched a forum for whisper-appreciators, which is getting a fair bit of traffic. Nice to see: http://www.youwhisper.com |

...also, it's interesting that using in-ear headphones dramatically increases the sensation. Anyone else found that?

Hm about same for me (no loss of effect) even when there's those rare people who do visual video (whisper but it isn't blank or a screen saver.. With them on it)

Sometimes I find headphones are good with a particular video clip or sound, and then at other times I try speakers. It's good to experiment between the two.

The whisper/ASMR community on YouTube is really amazing. Without them, I'd be stuck with the effing Shopping Channel and late night infomercials as triggers...
Sometimes, I find that the sensation is actually stronger without headphones, but it really depends on the video. |

RE: Youtube and the whisper community
Infomercials and the Shopping Channel... Unfortunately, yes, I do watch them. Mostly just the jewelry ones, not because I want to buy any chintzy crap, but I find that the hand-models trigger my ASMR like crazy. That may make me sound like a weirdo... But it works. Actually, any YouTube video where someone is rubbing their hands together, or tapping their fingers works like a charm too, even without audio.
I sometimes use YouTube whisperers to help myself fall asleep. I have pretty horrible insomnia, and nothing short of horse tranquilizers really works for me. But I find that when my ASMR is activated, sleep seems to come a lot easier. I wonder why that is? |

There's no audio, just visual. Perfect example. (06-20-2011 01:08 AM)Ersatzification Wrote: But I find that when my ASMR is activated, sleep seems to come a lot easier. I wonder why that is? Me too. RE: Youtube and the whisper community
I used to sift through the channels on my television to find the Bare Minerals infomercials.
